Indianapolis, IN – August Events

happy familyAugust is officially here and soon school will be starting and then fall is just around the corner. But don’t despair, Indianapolis, IN still has plenty of fun events for the whole family in the next few weeks if you haven’t had your fill of summer fun. WTHR has a full run down of Indianapolis, IN events, we’ve highlighted a few of our favorite events in the coming weeks.

First Fridays Food Truck Fest. Leinenkugel’s will be bringing back Indianapolis’ own First Friday Food Truck Festival (FFFTF) for its 5th annual season. Occurring the first Friday of each month from May through October, you are invited to indulge in the savory selections of Indy’s best food trucks and eclectic assortment of brews from Leinenkugel’s while enjoying live music and entertainment. Old National Centre, August 7th, 5pm.

PAWS Pool Party and Dive Contest. You and your dogs can swim together at a fun pool party for people and their pooches. The Dog Dive Contest is a fun event to see which dog can “dive” the furthest. Medals to top three winning teams. Music and concession stand open with pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, chips, cold drinks & sweets. Riley Park, August 15th.

Food Truck Fridays. Food Truck Fridays are a regular occurrence on Georgia Street’s west block from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Grab your friends and head out for lunch alfresco and enjoy the sights and sounds Downtown. Your favorite food trucks will be parked on Georgia Street between Capitol Avenue and Illinois Street. Try something different every week. Every Friday, 11am-2pm.

Shakespeare in the Park. In it’s 8th season, featured this year is The Tragedy of Othello, the Moor of Venice. Enjoy full Shakespearean plays for a small donation. All future productions are funded on audience donations. Friday August 21st, 22nd, 28th, 29th, 8pm, Garfield Park MacAllister Amphitheater.
